Elmira College’s Associate Professor of English Mary J. Mahoney to Present at The David Bowie Symposium

Dr. Mary J. Mahoney, Associate Professor of English at Elmira College, has been invited to attend The David Bowie Symposium: The Stardom and Celebrity of David Bowie 1965-2015 on July 17 and 18 at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne, Australia. The Herald Sun, of Melbourne, and Victoria, Australia says, “University scholars will dissect the career of rock legend David Bowie.”

Dr. Mahoney will present a lyric essay about the poetic standards of two David Bowie songs: “Money” and Bowie’s cover of Paul Simon’s “America” at the Concert for New York City, six weeks after 9/11. The presentation will take place at the opening of the global and highly acclaimed multi-media exhibition David Bowie Is – a groundbreaking multi-media museum exhibition.
