Dr. Amarendra Sharma, Associate Professor of Economics, was recently invited by three universities to present his research papers. Dr. Sharma was invited by the Faculty of Economics of Ss. Cyril & Methodius University in Skopje, Macedonia on May 29-30, 2015 to present his paper on the effectiveness of employment guarantee scheme in Mexico at the International conference on Economic Recovery in the Post-Crisis Period.
Subsequently, Dr. Sharma was invited by the South Asian University in New Delhi, India on August 20, 2015 to give a seminar. At this invited seminar he presented his paper on how remittances affect the labor market outcomes in Mexico. He also presented the same paper at Ramjas College, University of Delhi on August 21, 2015 under the auspices of their invited seminar series.
Dr. Sharma also recently published a couple of papers. His paper entitled “Did Infant Mortality Decline cause Fertility Decline? A Panel Data Evidence from Developing Countries” was published in Economics Bulletin (Vol. 35(1), 2015). He had earlier presented this paper at the 6th International Science, Social Sciences, Engineering, and Energy Conference (I-SEEC December 17-18, 2014) organized by the Udon Thani Rajabhat University in Udon Thani, Thailand.
Dr. Sharma also published another paper co-authored with Dr. Kusum Mundra of Rutgers University-Newark entitled “Housing Adequacy Gap for Minorities and Immigrants in the U.S.: Evidence from the 2009 American Housing Survey in the Journal of Housing Research (vol. 24(1), 2015).
Dr. Sharma has also been invited to present his recent research paper at the 7th International Seminar of Local Public Economics Scheduled on November 5 and 6, 2015 in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. This conference will be a joint effort of the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa and The Red de Economía Pública Local.
