“Be a part of something. EC provides a lot of opportunities to give people a chance to develop relationships and grow outside the classroom.”

Franon Wilson ’97
Elmira College Trustee
President, Arawak Homes
Nassau, Bahamas

Franon graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Communications and later received his MBA from the University of Miami. He is currently President of Arawak Homes in Nassau and takes great pride in helping people purchase their first home. He strives daily to give each customer the same opportunity of homeownership and resulting sense of pride. “I feel an overwhelming sense of gratification when a new homeowner receives keys to their home.” Franon credits his ability to make lasting connections with his clients to his time and experiences at Elmira. “Be a part of something. EC provides a lot of opportunities to give people a chance to develop relationships and grow outside the classroom.”

While at Elmira College, Franon was a contributing writer for the Octagon and Captain of the JV Basketball team. For the past thirteen years, Franon has been actively involved with EC’s Enactus Club (formerly Students in Free Enterprise- SIFE). He and his wife Shelly previously hosted the SIFE Essay Competition for students in the Bahamas. The winners of this annual competition receive a scholarship to attend Elmira College. This is one of the many ways he gives back to the College. “I had the pleasure of joining the Board of Trustees in 2013. To have the honor of working with a group of dynamic people on the Board and the staff at EC has been a privilege. I find joy in continuing to serve EC and I encourage other alumni to give back in some way.”
