Justin Porrett '19 of the Elmira College men's basketball has been recognized once again for his superb play last week. The rookie guard from Dumont, NJ, was named the Corvias ECAC Upstate Rookie of the Week for his efforts.
In three games, Porrett produced an 11.4 scoring average to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, both of which were team-highs. He has tallied double-digit points in three contests this season, while he has dished four-plus assists in four of the team's five games.
Porrett had his best game offensively against Hilbert College. He finished with a career-high 20 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field and pulled down seven boards. He added 11 points, five rebounds and four assists in his first career start against Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday. The following day against Chatham University, Porrett pulled down a season-high eight rebounds to go along with five points and four dimes.
Elmira is back in action this Friday, December 4th, when the Soaring Eagles welcome St. Lawrence University to Speidel Gymnasium for a non-conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
