The Elmira College Student Alumni Council hosted its annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) One Walk on Sunday, May 1. Each year SAC advisors and committee members work in conjunction with the JDRF Rochester Chapter to raise awareness and funds for the research to cure Type 1 Diabetes, previously known as Juvenile Diabetes, which is estimated to effect as many as three million Americans (Type 1 Diabetes, 2010; Prime Group for JDRF, Mar. 2011).

JDRF One Walk is the flagship fundraising event and the largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) event in the world. The funds and awareness raised by the dedicated walkers, volunteers and sponsors help create a world without T1D. JDRF is the leading global organization funding promising T1D research.
