The Campus Community gathered in the Campus Center on June 9th for the annual Elmira College Employee Recognition Breakfast. Employees with 10, 25, and 40 years of service were recognized along with employees, with 25-plus years of service, who have or will retire in the 2015-2016 academic year.
The following individuals were honored for their years of servce:
Ten Years: Mary Jenkins, Professor John Kelly, Elaine Kerrick, Dr. Daniel Kjar, Dr. Cory McCall, Shannon Moylan, Amber Myers, David Rundle.
Twenty-Five Years: Kevin Cook, Dawn Haupt, Mick Kimbell, Melissa Marks, Jennifer Renz, Peggy Spallone.
Forty Years: Naphtali Hoffman, Jim Siconolfi.
Employees, with 25+ years of service, who have retired or officially announced they will retire included: Dawn Haupt, Naphtali Hoffman, Mick Kimbell, Audrey Kopacz, Gary LaPointe, Dr. Linda Pratt, Dr. Jerome Przybylski, Cara Pucci, Karen Wheaton.
In addition, the following faculty and staff were presented with employee awards:
Douglas Anderson Award: Lorraine Mothershed. For 34 years, Douglas Anderson of Elmira, an outstanding community leader and business executive served Elmira College as a member of the Board of Trustees. In his honors, The Anderson Foundation and his daughter Bertha Anderson Greelee endowed The Douglas Anderson Award for administrative leadership at Elmira College.
Joseph Stein Award: Corey Stilts. The Josef Stein Award was established to honor the member of a distinguished former trustee by his son-in-law Dr. Edward Grandt, who for years was himself an active and highly respected member of the Board of Trustees. This award honors a relatively new member of the Elmira College faculty who has performed with distinction.
Catharine McGraw Rock Award: Charlie Jacobson. The Catharine McGraw Rock Award was established by a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Harold McGraw, of the McGraw-Hill Publishing Corporation, in honor of his daughter. Mr. McGraw was a devoted trustee and major benefactor of the College. This award is presented to a senior member of the Elmira College faculty.
Graduate Excellence-in-Teaching Award: Rebecca Johnson. This award is presented annually through the Office of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies. Recipients are nominated by the students based upon exceptional effectiveness in teaching.
The annual event is held at the end of each academic year and, in addition to honoring employees, is a time to celebrate the conclusion of another academic year at Elmira College.
