Each year the Office of Alumni Relations reaches out to alumni to invite them to attend the inaugurations of presidents at colleges from their area, on behalf Elmira College and President, Dr. Norman Smith.

During these inauguration events the alumni walk in the processional of presidents or representatives from other colleges while wearing Elmira College regalia, including a hood for their highest degree earned.

This past term, Judi Waniga Sonon ’65 and Chris Dziedzic '98 were two of the alumni that attended an inauguration on behalf of EC:

“I represented Elmira College as a delegate to the inauguration of Dr. Calvin Troup, the Twentieth President of Geneva College. My husband Dan and I enjoyed visiting Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania and the beautiful campus of this faith-based liberal arts college for the event.” - Judi Waniga Sonon ’65

“It was an honor to be asked to represent Elmira College and President Norman Smith at the inauguration of Sister Mary Persico as the new president of Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Friday, October 28, 2016, along with my girlfriend Rosalie Catalano as my guest. The administration and staff at Marywood University were delightful hosts for the day’s events and festivities. I had an opportunity to spend some time with Dr. Francis Battisti, Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer of SUNY Broome, who I have developed a friendship with since moving to Binghamton.” - Chris Dziedzic '98

Thank you to all of our alumni who represented Elmira College at other inaugurations.
