This week marks the 23rd annual Julie Reinstein ’28 Symposium sponsored by the Elmira College Women’s and Gender Studies Program and Students Against Sexism and Stereotypes (SASS).
This year’s Symposium features a week of events centered around the theme of, “Planned Parenthood: 100 Years Strong.” The events include collections for a local women’s shelter, a performance of the Vagina Monologues on Tuesday, February 14 in Watson Arena, a film screening, and a keynote presentation on Friday, February 17 by Liz Gipson, the director of public affairs for the Planned Parenthood of the Southern Finger Lakes.
These events and the Symposium are made possible by a bequest from college alumna Julia Reinstein '28, a feminist, early lesbian activist, and strong supporter of women's issues.
