Student Success and Activities

Student Success
The Student Success component of SEE EC is designed to help first time students integrate into the college environment and learn academic strategies that will help them succeed. This is an activity-based component, not a lecture class, covering such topics as note-taking, test taking, learning styles, study strategies, career choice, time management, goal setting, critical thinking, personal responsibility, listening skills, and communication skills.
Jennifer DeCapria, Director of Student Success and Advocacy at Elmira College, will be the main facilitator of the Student Success component. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from SUNY Brockport. She holds her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University at Buffalo. She has extensive experience teaching courses in success strategies and Human Services on an adjunct basis, while working as a counselor providing both academic and personal counseling.
