How to Apply


Schedules and Resources

 All graduate programs admit students to the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer terms of the academic calendar. You may print an Application for Admissions to Graduate Study into a Master of Science in Education Degree Program or a Master of Science in Management Degree Program to pursue a degree in one of our Education programs or Management programs.  Unsure about a Masters Degree, apply for an Advanced Certificate, or Non-degree study to take classes for your own personal enrichment.  These classes may be applied toward a Masters Degree if you decide to earn a degree.  Applications for Admission to Graduate Study may also be obtained by contacting the Elmira College Office of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies at graduate@elmira.edu,  (607) 735-1825, or 1 (800) 354-4720. All students who desire to enroll in a course or program of graduate study must submit their applications to Elmira College, Office of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies, One Park Place, Elmira, New York, 14901, at least two weeks prior to the first day of class.    


Master of Science in Education Admission Requirements

General Education , Literacy, and Corporate and Community Education
  1. Print and return the completed Education Application Form.
  2. Submit an official transcript from each institution previously attended, one of which indicates a bachelor's degree having been awarded.
  3. A minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 2.700 or approval by the Dean of Continuing Education.
  4. An interview with a Graduate Admissions Counselor.
  5. Documentation of your provisional or initial teacher certification if applying for the Literacy program.
  6. One hundred dollar matriculation fee.
  7. Once enrolled in a class,  immunization documentation is required within the first thirty days of your first term for Measles, Mumps, Rubella  and Meningitis.  Although Meningitis is an optional vaccination, the completed form is required. 
Master of Science Degree Programs in Management Admission Requirements

General Management, Emergency Disaster Preparedness Management, Health Services Management, and Information and Technology Management
  1. Print and return the completed Management Application Form.
  2. Submit an official transcript from each institution previously attended, one of which indicates a bachelor's degree having been awarded. (see application for additional details)
  3. A minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 2.700 or approval by the Dean of Continuing Education.
  4. Current Curriculum vita (include with application form)
  5. Two professional references from current or previous employers who have had the opportunity to observe your job performance.
  6. One reference from a college professor who has had the opportunity to observe your academic performance
  7. One hundred dollar matriculation fee
  8. Once enrolled in a class,  immunization documentation is required within the first thirty days of your first term for Measles, Mumps, Rubella  and Meningitis.  Although Meningitis is an optional vaccination, the completed form is required. 
Advanced Certificates Graduate Study Admission Requirements
Advanced Certificates are available in: Human Resource Development, Training of Trainers, Mark Twain Studies, and any one of the four speciaizations in Management.
  1. Print and return the completed Application Form.
  2. Proof of a bachelor's degree.
  3. There is no application fee for Advanced Certificate Graduate Study. 
  4. All credits earned may apply to a Master of Science degree program in accordance with the Seven-Year Rule, provided the course(s) taken fulfill program requirements.
  5. Once enrolled in a class,  immunization documentation is required within the first thirty days of your first term for Measles, Mumps, Rubella  and Meningitis.  Although Meningitis is an optional vaccination, the completed form is required. 
 
Non-Degree Graduate Study Admission Requirements
for Personal or Professional Enrichment
  1. Print and return the completed Application Form.
  2. Proof of a bachelor's degree.
  3. A brief personal statement describing your reason for Non-Degree Graduate Study.
  4. There is no application fee for Non-Degree Graduate Study. 
  5. All credits earned may apply to an Advanced Certificate or  Master of Science degree program in accordance with the Seven-Year Rule, provided the course(s) taken fulfill program requirements.
  6. Once enrolled in a class,  immunization documentation is required within the first thirty days of your first term for Measles, Mumps, Rubella  and Meningitis.  Although Meningitis is an optional vaccination, the completed form is required.
