Environmental Studies

Bachelor of Arts (A. B.) or Bachelor of Science (S. B.)

Environmental sustainability is no longer a catch phrase. Communities, corporations, and other organizations actively seek ways to lessen the impact of human activity on the planet. Career opportunities in fields related to the environment are expanding rapidly. The Environmental Studies major at Elmira College is truly interdisciplinary and is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in the private sector or with governmental agencies as researchers or policy makers. This major also prepares students for future studies in graduate school.

Basic requirements for the Environmental Studies major introduce students to the three major fields that pertain to a career relating to the environment, including science, public policy, and quantitative skills. Students can choose from a variety of courses in the Natural Sciences, the Social Sciences and the Humanities to further their personal development and professional preparation.
