Facilities

Elmira College's Art Department is intense and energized, where every student receives lots of attention and room to work. The Art Building is known as Fassett Commons, an 1890’s red brick two-story structure equipped with multiple drawing and painting studios and indoor facilities, including a bronze casting area. Fassett Commons houses all drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramic studios.

All studios are dynamic working environments with ten-foot ceilings and northern, southern and western exposures. The building is made available to students 24 hours a day. Art majors are also offered private studio spaces in an adjacent building where they work independently.

The photography and digital imaging areas of the art program are located in the lower level of the Gannett Tripp Library Building in the central part of campus.

The studios are equipped with 16 new Apple computers with 23-inch monitor, All Adobe platforms, a range of other visual applications and high-speed connections. The Photography Lab is also equipped with state-of-the-art digital facilities.
