Elmira College will not be increasing tuition, nor standard room and board rates next year. Our early decision represents an effort to be as responsive as possible to economic challenges faced by most families with private college sons and daughters. This freeze follows last year’s action to eliminate all supplemental mandatory fees, which previously had added as much as $3,000 to basic tuition rates. Elmira College is now among the very few private colleges in central New York, or anywhere else for that matter, not adding mandatory fees for basic services activities, technology, health center, etc.
I hope this advance announcement will help you with your plans for the 2017-18 year and will make it easier for you to continue your relationship with Elmira College during this time of progressive outcomes. For 2017, for instance, Elmira College has been elevated by U.S. News & World Report BEST COLLEGES from a regionally categorized college to their ‘top tier’ of national colleges. This past year, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education reaccredited Elmira College deeming it to be in compliance with all 14 ‘standards of excellence’ and commending the faculty for teaching excellence and commitment to students. Additionally, the nursing program was reaccredited, with ‘congratulations for outstanding achievement’ by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
This is an exciting and progressive time for Elmira College. I hope that you are as pleased to be part of this fine institution as we are to have you. Rest assured we will continue to do everything we can to make you proud of your continued affiliation.
