Matthew Keating ’07

Criminal Justice

     Matthew is an officer in Mt. Pleasant Police Department in Valhalla, New York. A major component of his career involves speaking calmly and reasonably with people, a skill he acquired at Elmira College. “My academic career provided an excellent arena for honing these skills. Writing reports also plays a large part in my position, being able to articulate on paper what I’ve witnessed, what witnesses may have seen, and other pertinent facts.”
     Matthew was hired within three weeks of graduating from Elmira College. “It was a thrill, as much as it was a relief, not to have to worry about a competitive job market.”
