Elmira College, a private liberal arts and sciences college in New York’s beautiful Finger Lakes region, invites applications for the position of Associate Controller. Reporting to the Controller and Assistant Vice President for Finance and Administration, the Associate Controller will play a leading role in the installation and operation of new enterprise software (Jenzabar EX) for general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgeting, purchasing, fixed assets, and human resources.
The preferred candidate is a senior accountant with experience in configuring and maintaining financial systems, and experience in all aspects of accounting and business office operations, including year-end closing and financial reporting, especially in a higher education setting. A CPA with Jenzabar EX experience would be ideal. Salary and benefits are very competitive.
Play leading role in the implementation of Jenzabar Enterprise Resource System (ERP), including student receivables, general ledger, payroll, and accounts payable.
Assist the Controller with the preparation of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements. Prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
Assist in maintaining complete financial records, as it pertains to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and banking.
Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Prepare operating procedures manual as it relates to the Jenzabar ERP system.
Evaluate internal controls and recommend changes as needed.
Perform specific balance sheet account and bank reconciliations.
Analyze specific departmental budgets for accuracy in transactions posted to same.
Work closely with entire business office team to integrate and prioritize departmental and organizational goals.
Knowledge of and experience with all aspects of accounting operations in a higher education setting, including the preparation of year-end financial statements.
Working knowledge of applicable FASB accounting rules for non-profits.
Experience with fund accounting software, and ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems with such software within all areas of financial operations.

Experience with Jenzabar ERP a plus.
Education: BS in Accounting. CPA preferred.
