Elmira College invites applications for a faculty position in Mathematics beginning fall semester 2014. Applicants are expected to possess a doctorate in the field at the time of hire. This is a full-time, tenure track appointment that involves teaching, advising, mentoring, and the desire to conduct research with undergraduates. In addition to staffing the mathematics major, the Mathematics department plays a crucial role in servicing programs across the curriculum with a special emphasis on STEM education and the General Education program. Candidates should be able to teach a broad range of mathematics courses, including college algebra, statistical methods, calculus, and upper division courses in the major and should demonstrate a willingness to embrace the College's mission and to participate in collegial governance. The Mathematics department is committed to the use of technology-based interactive teaching strategies.
