Elmira College has a number of current openings in the Freshman Writing Program for the position of Writing Lecturer for the 2014-2015 academic year. The main responsibility of the Writing Lecturer is teaching two sections of College Composition I in the Fall term and two sections of College Composition II in the Winter term, accompanied by a number of weekly, individual student tutorials. The position is full-time for ten months with the option of annual renewal.
Compensation includes a competitive stipend and optional insurance benefits.
Writing Lecturers start work in mid-August and work through early June.
Must have M.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D. in a field appropriate to the position.
Candidates should have an interest in and have experience teaching introductory college composition and rhetoric which seeks to improve students’ writing and thinking processes. The selection process will place a strong emphasis on teaching experience and clear evidence of teaching excellence. Additionally, candidates should have an interest in promoting the interests of the Freshman Writing Program and the retention efforts of Elmira College.
