Rochester, NY: The Empire 8 Athletic Conference is proud to announce new officers for the next two years, effective July 1, 2012. Pat Thompson, the Director of Athletics at Elmira College will commence a two-year term as first Vice President, having served Empire 8 as the second Vice President for the last two academic years.
“I am honored to serve the Empire 8 membership in this capacity and look forward to providing guidance and support to our Conference needs and expectations at all levels,” said Thompson.
Hartwick College Director of Athletics Kim Fierke was elected as the new second Vice President by her peers for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons as well.
“The Empire 8 is a great conference with an outstanding group of Division III institutions and I look forward to working with Pat as we continue to provide quality opportunities to student-athletes,” said Fierke.
“First off, we would like to thank our outgoing Vice-President, Russ Rogers (Stevens Institute of Technology) for his four years of service in which the Conference has experienced tremendous growth,” said Chuck Mitrano, Commissioner of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference. “I look forward to the quality work and great development to continue from our new leadership in the future.”
The members of the Empire 8 – Alfred University, Elmira College, Hartwick College, Houghton College, Ithaca College, Nazareth College, St. John Fisher College, Stevens Institute of Technology and Utica College are committed first and foremost to the pursuit of academic excellence and aspire to be regarded as an outstanding NCAA Division III conference. The membership seeks to distinguish itself among its peer group for its quality institutions, spirited and sportsmanlike competition, outstanding services and highly ethical policies and practices.
