Elmira College students and faculty once again exemplified the College tradition of community service. At the end of the academic year, students and faculty have the option to donate the remaining money on their meal cards to the Elmira Community Kitchen. This year, a group from EC made up of students and history professor Dr. Robert Shephard, prepared a meal for over 125 guests. Elmira College presented the Kitchen with a check for $3,000.00 this September.
Elmira College continues to fight hunger in the community by donating to another organization, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. This year’s gift, totaling $3,045.00, will help support hunger-relief organizations throughout the region. For over 25 years, the College has been providing local organizations with donations from students and staff. This excellent tradition demonstrates Elmira College’s commitment to community.
