During the recent election cycle, Dr. Jim Twombly, Associate Professor of Political Science, maintained a busy schedule. After each of the presidential debates, Dr. Twombly appeared either on Twin Tiers Tonight Late Edition on WENY or Good Morning Twin Tiers.

On October 11th he gave a talk on the history of US political parties at the Chemung Valley Historical Museum and on Election Day he addressed the Elmira Rotary Club with a talk on the Electoral College.

On the night before the election, Dr. Twombly appeared on Twin Tiers Tonight Late Edition to talk about what viewers could expect and what to watch for as election returns came in the following night. On election night itself, Dr. Twombly was once again live in the WENY-TV studios doing election night analysis.

His TV appearances culminated in the taping of Twin Tiers Sunday for November 11th where he discussed the election results, potential cabinet changes by President Obama, and prospects for the 2016 presidential race.

This election cycle frenzy will conclude with Dr. Twombly’s participation in a post-election forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters at the Steele Memorial Library on November 28th. The panel will include Elmira Mayor and Chemung County Democratic Chair, Susan Skidmore; New York State Senator Tom O’Mara; and Deputy County Executive and Chemung County Republican Chair, Mike Krusen. The event will be in the Steele Memorial Library Auditorium from 6:30 to 8 PM.
