Dr. Jim Twombly, Associate Professor of Political Science at Elmira College, has written his first book, The Progression of the American Presidency: Individuals, Empire, and Change, published by Palgrave Macmillan. The work is a textbook on the American presidency, dealing with the institution's constitutional roots and how it is shaped by the individuals who occupy it. Though it is a textbook aimed at junior-level undergraduate courses, it is an easily accessible read for anyone interested in the politics of the presidency. Dr. Twombly has over 25 years’ experience teaching courses on the presidency and offers courses in the topic at Elmira College every other year. The book has been formally released today, Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Dr. Twombly is working on a number of new projects, including one on the potential for single chamber (unicameral) legislatures that could develop into his next book.
