One-Year Position in Mathematics

Elmira College is seeking an excellent teacher and productive scholar to join the Mathematics department for a one-year appointment beginning Fall 2017; the position may be converted to a tenure-rack appointment in Fall 2018. The successful candidate is expected to have a doctorate in Mathematics at the time of appointment.

This position involves teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduates.  The desire to conduct research with undergraduates is especially welcomed.  In addition to staffing the mathematics major, the Mathematics department plays a crucial role in servicing programs across the curriculum with a special emphasis on General Education. Candidates should be able to teach a broad range of mathematics courses, including college algebra, statistical methods, calculus, and upper division courses in the major. The Mathematics department is committed to an active and cooperative learning setting for students and the use of technology-based interactive teaching strategies.

Elmira College, the first to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women and home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies, is a small, well-established, residential, liberal arts college in the Finger Lakes region of New York State.
