Students Present Research at Speech-Language Hearing Association Conference

On April 4, two Elmira College students presented their research at the Pennsylvania Speech-Language Hearing Association meeting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Almara Hutchinson ’13and Kara Maison ’13 presented their research findings along with Dr. Ted Johnson, Associate Professor of Speech and Hearing. The research was entitled Appalachian Preschool Hearing Screenings. The two students served as research assistants as a part of their recent independent study course entitled Seminar: Introduction to Research in Communication Disorders. At the conference, the students were required to discuss the development and findings of the research to professional Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists attending this annual meeting. This represents the sixth time that Elmira College students have participated in Speech and Hearing research presentations at the state and national conferences with Dr. Johnson.
