Elmira College has announced that it will once again freeze tuition, room and board rates for the 2014-2015 Academic Year. This is the second year in a row that the Board of Trustees has decided to keep tuition at 2012-13 rates.

This decision reflects Elmira College’s commitment to students and their families.

“Elmira College is committed to its mission of delivering a quality education to students and helping them succeed. Graduating from Elmira College is an important step toward life-long success. In holding the line on the costs to attend the College, we are helping our students and their families keep an Elmira College education accessible and students on track to graduate in four years.”

President Ronald Champagne

Elmira College provides $27 million in scholarships and financial aid to more than 95 percent of its approximately 1,200 students. The College is the largest provider of gift aid to our students. In addition to the increases in merit-based aid, Elmira College will continue to fund need-based financial aid, as well.

Since most institutions of higher education increase their cost to families by approximately three to five percent per year, this price freeze will result in a savings of $1,500 per year or $6,000 over four years.

The College will not cut programs or services to make the tuition freeze possible. Conversely, Elmira College will continue renovating high-traffic classrooms with improved technology and furniture. The College has undertaken a major retention and recruiting effort to grow enrollment carefully in ways that will be supported appropriately.
