Following a perfect 2-0-0 showing at the ultra-competitive Panther-Cardinal Classic, Louisa Lippiatt Durnell '18 of the Elmira College women's ice hockey team has been named to the National Team of the Week.
Lippiatt Durnell finished with two points over the weekend to help guide Elmira to a pair of wins against third-ranked Middlebury College and ninth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College. She was credited with the first assist on Elmira's game-winning goal against the Panthers, one that was scored midway through the third period, as the Soaring Eagles turned a one-goal deficit into a 3-1 victory. The following day, Lippiatt Durnell punched-in her second goal of the season on the power play, which sparked Elmira's 2-1 come-from-behind win against the Golden Gusties.
The native of East Sussex, England, has enjoyed a fine start to the 2015-16 campaign, tallying points in each of her seven games played this season. Her seven-game point streak is the longest of her two-year Elmira career. Lippiatt Durnell has eight points on the year on two goals and six assists, with two of her assists occurring on game-winning goals.
The second-ranked Soaring Eagles are back in action this Saturday, December 5th, when Elmira heads to the North Country to take on SUNY Potsdam in ECAC West action. Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Potsdam's Maxcy Ice Arena.
