Eddie Nolan '17 of the Elmira College men's ice hockey team has been named one of the six members on the National Team of the Week.
Nolan scored his first goal of the season in Elmira's 6-1 rout of Wesleyan University last Saturday night. The third-year defender tallied EC's second goal of the contest, which held up as the game winner; the first game-winner of his collegiate career. Nolan's goal was not only his first of the season, but also his first since February 15, 2014 of his freshman year.
The Dorchester, MA, native becomes Elmira's third National Team of the Week recipient of the 2015-16 season. Nolan joins the company of Brian Depp '16, who took home honors last week, and fellow defensemanJonathan Grassie '19, who earned a spot on the national team of the week earlier this year on November 25th.
Elmira will enjoy an extended break from competition due to the holiday break. The Soaring Eagles return to action on Friday, January 8th, when EC travels to take on The College at Brockport at 7:00 p.m. Elmira returns to the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena the following night for the team's lone home contest of the month, which is slated for 7:00 p.m. against nationally-ranked SUNY Geneseo.
