Graduate Programs

The graduate programs at Elmira College provide an array of full or part-time options leading to Master of Science degrees and Advanced Certificates. These programs are designed for students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree or for working professionals who are ready to add an advanced degree or coursework for professional development. Set up an appointment with a graduate advisorby contacting the Office of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies at (607) 735-1825 or graduate@elmira.edu.

The Master of Science (M.S. and M.S.Ed.) programs require satisfactory completion of 10 to 12 courses totaling 30 to 36 semester credits. To make our programs as convenient as possible, courses are offered in the evenings, on weekends, and blended (online and on-campus).

Capstone Experience:  The capstone graduate seminar consists of small groups of students from each discipline.  Case studies, simulations, group projects, and problem-based learning are integrated with classroom lectures and presentations.

Non-Degree Study

Non-degree study offers students a chance to take classes for professional development or personal enrichment. The credit earned in these classes may be applied toward a Masters Degree if you decide to earn a degree. Students interested in non-degree coursework at the graduate level must apply to the graduate program.

Graduate Assistantships

There are a limited number of Graduate Assistantship positions available. Graduate Assistants complete a Master's Degree in Education or Management during the two years that the Graduate Assistant commits to a particular position at the College. The benefits for these positions include tuition waiver as well as room, board, insurance, and a monthly stipend. Assistantships are granted based on required interviewing, auditions, transcripts and letters of reference from a completed undergraduate degree. For more information regarding Graduate Assistantships, please see Employment Opportunities or contact our Human Resources Office at personnel@elmira.edu or (607) 735-1810.
